BOLTS OF LIGHTNING

A very short single contest for Tampa Bay this segment as the Lightning have their NHL version of a bye week that entails an entire seven-day period of game inactivity. This comes at a very advantageous time for the Bolts who are in dire of some time off to get healthy.

Here’s my review and analysis

REVIEW

GAME 14 FLYERS 2 LIGHTNING

Philadelphia scored a late third period marker to take the contest to extra hockey and won in a shootout for a 2-1 defeat of Tampa Bay at Amalie Arena. The Flyers moved to 5-8-1 for 11 points and the Bolts fell to 7-6-1 and that adds up to 15 points. As the Bolts have done the past four tilts Tampa Bay dented the scoreboard first. F Nikita Kucherov (11) scored on a nifty wraparound after an assist by F Brandon Hagel (8) with just 45 seconds left in the opening stanza. After a scoreless middle period, the Flyers knotted the score and forced overtime. After a scoreless five minute OT period, Philly converted their first two attempts against Lightning G Andrei Vasilevskiy (6-5) who took the loss while the Lightning came up empty on their two scoring efforts.

ANALYSIS

*The Lightning are really banged up especially F Brayden Point.

**The Bolts have scored first in the last 8 games.

***In those 8 games Tampa Bay is 3-4-1.
