Keys to South Carolina V LSU:

Weather:

Since the beginning of the season for LSU throughout the first two games, the run game has been subpar while the passing game has been elite. With this game at noon on Saturday, there’s expected to be some rain in the day. Whenever that rain hits will determine the game plan for both teams. If LSU has to run the ball, the offensive line has to show out and cannot play like they have the past two weeks. This USC defensive line has been awesome the first two weeks. Even though USC went up against Old Dominian and Kentucky who had a battered and inferior offensive line, the LSU offensive line is the strength of the team as they have not allowed a sack this year through two games. The rain can force LSU to have to run the ball and change the game plan for both teams, but if it rains, it goes in favor for the Gamecocks.

Can South Carolina move the ball?

Through two games Lenorris Sellers has played inconsistent. He has thrown 10 passes in each game and never eclipse 150 yards passing in either of them, and his two touchdown passes came from inside the 15 yard line from a forced fumble recovered by their defense. The run game for South Carolina has seen lethargic sometime for South Carolina as it seems a struggle to find open grass. If the LSU defense can make South Carolinas run game look like it did the past two weeks. I am extremely confident LSU will win the game. If the gamecocks make this a shootout, it will start to get bad for the Tigers.

Can LSU defense step up?

LSU defense while still not the expectation it’s supposed to be, it has been playing a lot better compared to last year. The country saw LSU get stops against Miller Moss and Southern Cal and a shut out in the second half against Nichols. If the LSU defense plays, consistent and discipline football, they should be able to slow down South Carolina enough for Nussmeier and the offense to gain a substantial lead. Gameplan for LSU, stop Lanorris Sellers and Rocket Sanders rushing attack, make Sellers win the game through the air.

Concluding Thoughts:

This game at Williams Bryce Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina has an interesting aura around it. LSU is looking for a bounce back game to get them on the right track in the season, while South Carolina is looking to start the season 3-0 and keep the confidence and momentum swinging for them. This game is in my opinion Shane Beamers most important game in his tenure at South Carolina, and it’s a game for Bryan Kelly that if he loses, could turn his seat mildly hot.

Tune in noon on Saturday to watch the LSU fighting Tigers take on the Gamecocks.
