LSU v South Alabama: A Review

September 29, 20242 min read

University of South Alabama at Louisiana State University review:

This game turned out to be what LSU fans were looking for. A game from start to finish, where LSU played 100% and did Not come out inconsistent at times.

Caden Durham got LSU started off to a quick 14-0 lead early in the first quarter. Durham took the opening play 75 yards for a touchdown from a screen thrown by Nussmeier. Then, The first play on the next drive Durham took the ball nearly 80 yards on a run up the middle gutting the south Alabama defense. It was spectacular to watch and a sigh of relief to see the game off to a hot start especially in the run game.

This game was essentially over at halftime with the score being LSU 35-3. The defense played great the whole game. There were two big plays passing wise for South Alabama, but even then The LSU defensive back was draped on receiver. It was not reminiscent of old times when it was a bust or open play. The coverage was good. Just had a better play made by the receiver.

Nussmeier through two interceptions, one at the end of the first half and one in the middle of the third quarter. Both interceptions kind of came off as Nussmeier being greedy, Forcing a pass in a tight window or throwing back footed. I personally do not see it as a big issue for the team. Brian Kelly chewed his ear off when Nussmeier returned to the side line.

Overall, a much needed win, and a good looking win, which has been hard to say these past coming weeks. It’s nice to see the entire team click, especially with an upcoming bye week, and then Ole Miss visiting Baton Rouge in 2 weeks. That game, death Valley needs to be rocking and be the loudest it’s ever been, don’t Let Lane Kiffin talk or think. Ole Miss dropped a game to Kentucky 20-17, which either shows Kentucky’s defense to be elite or Ole Miss running not seeming to be as dominant as once thought. However, don’t expect Ole Miss to be an easy game. They are going to be coming into that game looking to prove something. Tigers be ready. GEAUX TIGAH
