LSU V UCLA

LSU Takes down UCLA: A Review

September 22, 20243 min read

First half:

LSU started the game off strong receiving the ball to start the game, traveling down the field 75 yards to get a touchdown run by Zavion Thomas. However, UCLA responded by producing a 8 play 75 yard touchdown drive. The game tended to be back-and-forth in the first half, where at one point UCLA had a 10-7 lead. On the LSU pursuing drive they made the game 14-10. It was a back-and-forth football game where at halftime the score was tied 17 to 17. Both teams were passing the ball all over the field, while the run games for both teams seemed to be lacking, with UCLA having the worse day with negative total yardage at half, while LSU had a little more than 50 yards on the ground.

Second half

Going into halftime there was a A large sense of unease with the LSU fanbase. However, as LSU fans know a second-half LSU team is a completely different football team. In the second half, LSU‘s defense did not allow one point and the LSU offense looked good in both the passing and running game. LSU accounted for 454 yards total offense while UCLA accounted for 295 yards of offense. LSU look like a more dominant and complete football team in the second half, something LSU fans want and needed to see. That success needs to continue and start it earlier in the game. Why does it always have to be the second half?

Takeaways:

One take away from this football game is LSU’s running game is still inconsistent at times. They did better, but they should’ve done better against this inexperienced and physically smaller UCLA defense. Was lackluster and the running backs got stood up at the line of scrimmage or behind it sometimes.

Bradyn Swinson is a “dawg” and is the best player on defense right now. NFL scouts should be eyeing him up as he has been shoving offensive lineman and beating offensive lineman off the edge. He accounted for two sacks and a forced fumble in this game. He has five sacks on the year and has played amazing against South Carolina and UCLA. Get him after the quarterback!!!

Aaron Anderson has stepped up to be the five star that he is supposed to. He has been showing flashes and has been playing his heart out with catching the ball and making some guys miss. He has been the surprise on offense this year. It’s always good to see Louisiana natives doing good on the LSU Tigers repping the state behind them.

In conclusion, it was a good win today. LSU displayed that they can fix the mistakes with second-half adjustments and limit their mistakes in the second half. I’m excited to see what this defense can do, especially against South Alabama next week who has a highly touted offense, even though it isn’t seen as a power five team. This game next Saturday should not be seen as an easy victory for LSU, south Alabama has been blowing the brakes off of teams this year and I sense that they smell blood in the water when regarding LSU. Looking forward to next weeks matchup, keep checking in for updates on your favorite team the LSU fighting Tigers. GEAUX TIGAHS!!!
