RECORDS THAT WON’T BE BROKEN. Going to go to the National Football League for this week’s record that will not be topped. That will be the most consecutive starts in the NFL by a non-special teams player.
The mark stands at 297 and belongs to quarterback Brett Favre while playing for the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets culminating with the Minnesota Vikings. It spanned from September 27th of 1992 when the streak began until December 5th of 2010 when it came to an end due to a shoulder injury against the Buffalo Bills forcing the University of Southern Mississippi alumnus to miss the next contest.
That eclipsed the previous mark of 270 by defensive end Jim Marshall. The Ohio State star posted those numbers while playing for the Minnesota Vikings.
The closest run by current players is Atlanta Falcons offensive tackle Jake Matthews at 174. That’s followed by Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen with 105.
That’s still 124 away from breaking the record held by Favre. If you do the math as I always encourage you to do that’s another seven years plus which means the Texas A&M product would have to play in the trenched until he’s 40. Not happening guys.
But there is one that transcends Favre. That will be for another column and this will surprise even die hard Eagles fans because I had no know of it's existence either.
Heck of a teaser right group? Look for it next week.
Book it Dano!
