TAMPA BAY SPORTS SCENE by Leo Haggerty PFWA
TAMPA BAY SPORTS SCENE. Very limited activity last segment. Not surprisingly with Tampa Bay sports being sandwiched around Hurricanes Helene and Milton. So here's what went down on a very abbreviated schedule determined by Mother Nature. RAYS. Luckily 2024 season concluded last weekend. If it hadn't, it would be hard playing after Milton to a piece of the roof off of Tropicana Field. BUCS. Lost a heartbreaker to Atlanta Thursday night when the Falcons came all the way back to win 36-30 in OT in Hotlanta. Traveled to New Orleans earlier this week to avoid Milton and get ready for the Saints with kickoff at 1 pm. ROWDIES. Lost 3-1 on the road against Rhode Island FC. At Louisville City FC on Saturday with the fixture starting at 7:30 pm. SUN. Last week was a bye week. Milton made this one a bye week too with the postponement of a Saturday home fixture against Fort Lauderdale United FC. LIGHTNING. Finished preseason 2-2-2 with Helene cancelling one. Open season Friday at Carolina against the Hurricanes with the puck dropping at 7 pm. Home opener postponed with same Hurricanes due to hurricane (can't make that up) on Saturday and Tuesday 7 pm home game with Vancouver Canucks may also be rescheduled. BULLS. Coming off bye week. Friday tilt with Memphis Tigers rescheduled for Saturday as well as moved to Orlando due to Milton with kickoff now at 3:30 pm. It's certainly not nice to fool with Mother Nature. Book it Dano!
